Privacy Policy
Last updated: 07/10/2026
Preload ("the app") is a motorcycle maintenance log made by Lachlan Anderson ("I", "me"). This policy explains what the app collects and why.
Your records stay on your device
Everything you enter - bikes, maintenance, modifications, tuning sessions, gear, notes and photos - is stored only on your device (and in your device's own backups, if you have those turned on). The app has no accounts, and I can't see, access or recover this data. Deleting the app deletes it.
Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports
To understand which features are used and to fix crashes, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These collect:
- an anonymous, randomly generated app-installation identifier
- which screens are opened and which features are used (for example "a bike was added", with its make, model and year; "a service was logged", with the odometer reading and how many tasks, parts and photos it had; "a tyre was fitted", with its brand and model if you entered them; or "a PDF was exported")
- approximate location (country/region), which Google derives from your IP address
- device and app details (model, OS version, app version) and crash diagnostics when the app crashes
This data is not linked to your name, email or any account, isn't used for advertising, and isn't sold. The free-text fields you write (titles, notes, gear names) are never sent. Google processes this data on my behalf under its Firebase privacy terms.
Permissions
- Camera and photos: only when you choose to add a photo. Photos stay on your device.
- Notifications: optional reminders for time-based maintenance, gear and renewals, scheduled on your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
